By Faith: Seeking God

Seeking God is challenging and risky. It’s one of those scenarios where you know going in that once you start seeking Him, He’s absolutely going to work in your life and start transforming you and while that is awesome, it is also scary. To sincerely seek God means to be open to allowing Him entrance to every area of your life and that means letting go of things you have used to survive. It also means to opening yourself up to the greatest relationship you will ever be in, a relationship with God.

Hebrews 11:6 introduces Enoch, another elusive character and story because again, God has’t provided a detailed accounting of his life. However, God has provided all we need to know: Enoch pleased God and God just simply took him up into heaven. The actual telling of Enoch in Genesis 5 is summarized in one sentence, “Enoch walked with God, and he was not for God took him.” Talk about a mic drop! You can’t walk with God without having sought out God initially and then be in a continual state of seeking God in every situation. Seeking God and walking with God go hand-in-hand, you really can’t have one without the other.

Here’s what I love about God, when He asks us to do something He provides the assurity that He will make it happen. God’s plan is actually pretty simple and is summarized beautifully in Jeremiah 29:13, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” No big recipe with a list of ingredients a mile long, just a simple direction and promise…God will be found.

Seeking God with all of your heart is easier then we make it. I have done it myself and I hear it all the time, “I have to get this straightened out and then I can seek God.” Oh man, if that’s your story right now can I just tell you that is a one-way ticket to bigger issues and problems. God is desperately desiring that you just simply seek Him. Once you do that, He’ll lead you to resolutions you didn’t even know were possible. Seeking God will lead to walking with God, walking with God will lead to the blessings of God, the blessings of God will lead to a life you never imagined.

Seeking God requires faith. You can’t, and actually won’t, seek God if you don’t believe in Him or believe He has any ability to influence your life. Faith is what drives seeking God and faith is what empowers walking with God. Living by faith will naturally lead to pleasing God because you will be allowing Him to guide your steps and your outcomes. It is impossible to please God without faith and it is also impossible to seek God without faith. Faith is the catalyst to a life of freedom, love, grace, peace and mercy. Faith is the catalyst to finding God.

If faith is the starting point to pleasing God, then it is important to make sure you have a saving faith in Jesus Christ. A saving faith in Jesus Christ means that you accept the sacrifice He provided on the cross. You accept that without His sacrifice, His dying in our place, there is no salvation. You don’t have to have all the answers, remember this is about faith which means believing something that you can’t really see but hope is there and then you start walking in His direction. If you have never activated your faith to believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior and that through His death we have life, then simply pray for that faith right now. He will absolutely invade your heart with love, compassion, mercy and grace and you will never be the same. If you have prayed for saving faith in Jesus just now, welcome to the family of God!! Simply ask for forgiveness and push reset. He’s not going to deny you, no matter how far off the path you have gone. He’s not going to condemn you, judge you or be disappointed in you. He’s going to love you, accept you and dwell with you. If you are re dedicating your life today, please email me at and I will be praying for you!

Faith is the catalyst to finding God. Activate your faith, seek God, find God and please God…He is waiting for you to open more and more of yourself to Him. He loves you so much and wants amazing things for your life.
