Mend Your Ways
“Now therefore mend your ways and your deeds, and obey the voice of the Lord your God, and the Lord will relent of the disaster that He has pronounced against you.”-Jeremiah 26:13
Jeremiah had a hard message to tell the people of God. It wasn’t a message of let’s just love each other. It wasn’t a message of let’s let people live however they want. It wasn’t a message of fear to confront. It was simply: stop doing what you know is wrong and start doing what you know is right.
Sometimes I think we get so caught up in hurting someone’s feelings or stepping on what we perceive as their “right” in how they behave that we condone things we shouldn’t by our silence. If our motives are pure, and love is our desire, then having a challenging conversation about behaviors and actions that are contrary to God is a good thing to do. Jeremiah faced death in order to spread this message.
In all love, deeply rooted in God, my heart to you today says look at your life honestly, stop doing what you know you shouldn’t do and start doing what you know God wants you to do. There are natural consequences on their way that you need to avoid. God wants you to live in light of His word. Change is hard but it’s worth it to get back on track with God.
